FoxFlash · not starting · not detected

FoxFlash not starting? We check it first — then we repair it.

You plug your FoxFlash in and nothing happens — the software cannot find it, or a strange name appears in the device list. That does not automatically mean the tool is dead. We inspect it in Dortmund, Germany and tell you what is wrong and what it costs before any work starts. English and German, in European time.

A photo of your screen is enough for a first assessment. No account, no form.

Does this sound familiar?

Four situations come up most often. Each has a different cause — and not every one needs a repair. Find your case and you immediately know what happens next.

1

The software cannot find the FoxFlash

You plug it in and start the software — nothing happens, as if nothing were connected. The most common cause is that the computer no longer recognises the device properly. In most cases this can be restored without replacing anything.

2

It only shows up as "USB Serial Converter"

Instead of FoxFlash, the device list suddenly shows an unfamiliar name. This is a known fault pattern and does not mean the tool is dead — the identity stored inside it is simply gone, and in many cases that can be restored.

3

Nothing happens at all when you plug it in

No sound, no message, no reaction. Two things are possible here: something small with the connection, or real damage to the port. We see which one it is during inspection — and tell you whether it is worth sending in, before you send anything.

4

The device is there, but the software reports an error

Sometimes the tool is perfectly fine and the cause lies in the software, the activation or the provider side. We check that separately — so you do not pay for a repair that was never needed.

Your case is not listed? Just describe what happens. Most faults can be narrowed down in one or two messages — no technical vocabulary needed, and no cost for asking.

How it works

  1. 1

Tell us what happens. A photo of your screen is enough.

  2. 2

You get a short, honest assessment: worth sending in or not.

  3. 3

We inspect the tool in Dortmund and quote a fixed price.

  4. 4

You decide. If not, it goes back exactly as it came in.

What we need from you

  • The tool and the cable you have been using with it
  • A photo of the screen if any message appears
  • Two sentences in your own words: what happens, what should happen
  • Whether you use Windows or Mac — no passwords, no login details
  • Your return address; for non-EU shipments we explain the customs label first

Frequently asked questions

My FoxFlash only shows up as "USB Serial Converter" — is it broken?

Usually not. The name appears because the computer no longer recognises the tool as a FoxFlash and only sees the USB chip inside it. This is a known fault pattern and is often recoverable. Whether it is recovered in your case is what the inspection tells you — we will not promise it beforehand.

Why not just send it to the manufacturer or a seller in Asia?

You can — but you will be waiting across time zones. When it is late evening in Europe, most workshops in Asia are closed, so work often only starts many hours later. We are in Germany (CET/CEST), reply during your working day and work on the tool in the same time zone you live in.

Can I fix it myself on my computer?

Sometimes, yes. If it is only a software setting we can often sort it out by phone or message. If the identity stored in the tool itself is affected, it has to be done on the device. We tell you which one it is up front, so you do not waste time.

Do I have to ship it to Germany from abroad?

Yes, the tool has to physically reach us in Dortmund. We recommend a tracked parcel service and will tell you exactly what to include. Inside the EU this is simple; from outside the EU, customs paperwork is needed — ask us before shipping and we will explain what to write on it.

How long does it take and what does it cost?

Inspection usually happens within one working day of arrival. The repair cost depends on the fault, so we quote a fixed price once we have seen the tool — no estimates by gut feeling. You decide after that, with no obligation.

Do you speak English?

Yes. WhatsApp, phone and email all work in English or German. You will talk to the person who actually has the tool in their hands, not a call centre.

Describe your problem in one message

A photo of your screen or two sentences is enough. You get an honest assessment of whether a repair is worth it — and what the next step costs.
